Domestic Diva Tip #10

Microwave Magic
Easy way to clean: Put a microwavable dish of hot water in the oven, add a slice of lemon and boil for 3 or 4 minutes until it steams. Let sit for a minute or two, then wipe out the interior of the oven with a soft cloth.

Domestic Diva Tip #8

Leftover Toothpaste - Silverware Cleaner

Always gutted that you can never finish using the toothpaste left in the tube? Cut it open with a pair of big scissors, use up whatever you can for the last time. Should there be some leftover, use it to clean and polish your silverware and silver jewelry. Works perfectly!

Domestic Diva Tip #7

Here's some help for Halloween mishaps this weekend:

Clean chocolate off costumes
Scrape i off, then rinse with cold water and rub with heavy-duty liquid detergent. Wash with detergent and all-fabric bleach.

Get gum out of kids' hair
Coat hair with peanut butter or petroleum jelly and slide gum out.

Remove candy stuck on rug
Pry o as much as you can with a spoon or blunt knife, then soak spot with a cloth saturated in a solution of 1 teaspoon mild detergent, 1 teaspoon white vinegar and 1 quart cool water. Rinse with cool water and blot dry. (Spot test if you're concerned the fabric may bleed or fade.)

Clean makeup and face paint off clothes
Rub stain gently with heavy-duty liquid detergent and wash with bleach (if safe for fabric.)

P.S. Remember NO Domestic Diva class this Tuesday.
The schedule has been reformatted to hold classes only on the 2nd Tuesdays of the month.

Domestic Diva Tip #5

Traveling and no iron available?
I have two solutions that I have used. One idea is to lift one side of your bed mattress and lay your clothing item crease-free on the box spring. Gently lower the mattress, (you may need help from your room buddy); in the morning lift the mattress and your item should have less wrinkles. Another idea is to pack a curling iron and use the heated iron to run over your clothing... test an area to make sure the heat will not hurt the fabric.

Domestic Diva Tip #3

Natural Remedy for MIGRAINE HEADACHES:
Feverfew
A number of studies have found that eating feverfew leaves can decrease the frequency and severity of migraine headaches. Buy this plant at a farmers' market, or grow it yourself. Eat one leaf daily. If symptoms don't improve after a week, you can take a maximum of two leaves. Some people develop mild mouth sores, but they're harmless; just stop chewing the leaves for a few days. Don't take feverfew if you're pregnant.

Domestic Diva Tip #2

I'm choosing this tip because we happened to have spaghetti for dinner tonight and I wish I would have read this first:
"When I make spaghetti for my three young children, instead of cutting up the pasta with a knife and fork, I run a pizza cutter across each plate a few times. It neatly cuts the pasta into bite-size pieces."

Domestic Diva Tip #1

"Last weekend, I burned some food onto the bottom of a frying pan and couldn't scrub away the dark stain no matter how hard I tried. Remembering a tip I once read, I dampened the pan, sprinkled it with baking soda and let it sit overnight. To my complete amazement and delight, the spot came off the next morning with practically no scrubbing." (Unfortunately, you can't use this trick on aluminun pans.)
