Domestic Diva Tip #1

"Last weekend, I burned some food onto the bottom of a frying pan and couldn't scrub away the dark stain no matter how hard I tried. Remembering a tip I once read, I dampened the pan, sprinkled it with baking soda and let it sit overnight. To my complete amazement and delight, the spot came off the next morning with practically no scrubbing." (Unfortunately, you can't use this trick on aluminun pans.)

  1. For an aluminum pan you can fill it with water, add in 1/4 a cup of baking soda and 3/4 a cup of white vinegar, bring it to a boil and then reduce heat to a simmer for 15-20 minutes. You don't want to leave it in the pot/pan for more than 1 hour though because it can cause pitting. Or if you don't want to use baking soda on your aluminum pants at all you could fill it with water, add dish washing detergent and bring it to a boil for 15 minutes, longer if needed. If this doesn't work after an hour though it's not coming out with out a LOT of scrubbing.

  2. Baking soda is great for cleaning tub and tile and tub doors and sinks. Washes away with no grit. Cheap.
