Clean chocolate off costumes
Scrape i off, then rinse with cold water and rub with heavy-duty liquid detergent. Wash with detergent and all-fabric bleach.
Get gum out of kids' hair
Coat hair with peanut butter or petroleum jelly and slide gum out.
Remove candy stuck on rug
Pry o as much as you can with a spoon or blunt knife, then soak spot with a cloth saturated in a solution of 1 teaspoon mild detergent, 1 teaspoon white vinegar and 1 quart cool water. Rinse with cool water and blot dry. (Spot test if you're concerned the fabric may bleed or fade.)
Clean makeup and face paint off clothes
Rub stain gently with heavy-duty liquid detergent and wash with bleach (if safe for fabric.)
